St Thomas' Appeal

The St Thomas’ Church and Centre Appeal – we need your help!

The Church building

St Thomas’ Church is used for worship at least three times every Sunday, and throughout the week too.  Last year there were 48 baptisms, 30 weddings, and over 30 funerals, and many hundreds joined us for special services at Christmas, Easter, Harvest and Remembrance.

We want to maintain the Church for current use, and for the use of generations to come.  Urgent repairs are needed to the Church building: to repair and make secure the roof, and to repair the church clock.

The Church Centre

St Thomas’ Church is used throughout the week, but there is far more that we could do as a church, and to support our community, if we had a separate church hall.

The new Wednesfield library has given us the opportunity to lease the old library as a church centre, to use for church activities such as church fayres, youth groups, toddler groups, senior citizens club and more.  It would also be available for use by community groups, such as exercise classes, or by individuals as an affordable and conveniently-located function or meeting room.

To make the old library usable as a church centre, we need to put in a kitchen and disabled toilets, and we may also need to carry out other repairs.  Whilst these costs can be offset against future rental, this work needs to be carried out before we can use the building.

The total cost of this work is estimated to be over £56,000 – and we don’t have enough reserves to cover this, so we need your help!

How you can help

By giving – We are looking to raise money in three different ways: direct gifts for the appeal, pledged regular contributions for a period of 3 years, and the provision of interest free loans for a period of 3 years.  Please pick up a leaflet in Church, or contact us.

By supporting fundraising events – We are organising a number of fund raising events – please support or even organise one!  Keep an eye on our calendar for more details

By telling others – Spread the word and help us get as many people as possible involved in the appeal.

By praying – We want to grow our Church and serve our community and we know that we need to support this in prayer.
